SUBJECT
Whistling Noise Coming from the Center Vent - A/C is Off

SITUATION
A very high pitched whistling or beeping noise is heard coming from the center vents.
CAUSE
The flow of refrigerant through the expansion valve at certain temperature differentials.
CORRECTION
Install the liquid assembly line between the condenser and evaporator; which includes an electric
blocker valve that is fully closed when the A/C is turned off. Modify the circuit to activate and
deactivate the electric blocker valve.
PROCEDURE
To avoid misdiagnosis you must duplicate the noise before repair. This problem occurs
only under very specific conditions.
This noise is very difficult to duplicate. Follow these suggestions to duplicate the problem:

A/C compressor is off

Fresh air directed through center vents
z
Lowest fan speed
z
No other noises such as open windows, sunroofs and radio on etc.

Listen closely at center vents
After verifying the noise problem, follow the repair procedure on the B64 09 15 attachment and
Electrical Expansion Valve Wiring attachment.
