SUBJECT

The Front Seat Ventilation Fan Makes a Grinding Noise
MODEL

G12 (7 Series)
Vehicles produced up to November 9, 2015
Vehicles equipped with comfort seat
SITUATION

A grinding noise can be heard from the front ventilation seat, when going around corners.
CAUSE

The seat fan grinds on the foam or grille cover.
CORRECTION

Reattach grill cover of seat fans.
PROCEDURE

1. Remove the seat cover to gain access to the ventilation fans. Refer to repair instructions:
“52 17 402 Replace seat cover for driver’s seat”
“52 17 404 Replace seat cover for passenger seat”
2. Carefully remove the seat heating mat from the seat foam, adhesive section.

3. Inspect the adhesive attachment
to the foam, as shown, for both
left and right corner fan.

Is the adhesive improperly attached
to the foam and the grill cover,
interfering with the fan?
YES - glue the grille cover with
double-sided adhesive tape in the area
shown, then go to step 4.
Caution: do not glue in the area of the
fans.
NO – go to step 4.

4. Is the adhesive properly
attached to the foam in the
highlighted areas?
YES - go to step 5.
NO- reattach with double-sided
adhesive tape then go to step 5.

5. Reinstall the seat cover. Refer to repair instructions:
“52 17 402 Replace seat cover for driver’s seat”
“52 17 404 Replace seat cover for passenger seat”
