SITUATION
Condensation or fog forms inside the
LED headlight lens cover
CAUSE
Water enters the headlight from the headlight ventilation filter.
PROCEDURE
Do not replace the headlight. Follow the modification procedure below to remove the ventilation filter:
1. Remove the trim on the side panel of the hood. Refer to ISTA Repair Instruction, “REP 51 76 035 Engine
bonnet-seal bracket.”
2. With a screw driver, remove the

cap from the headlight as shown
in picture.
3. To remove the headlight
ventilation filter, use a 3 mm
Allen wrench.
Note: A pin from a plastic body
rivet which is 3 mm in diameter
will also work.
4. The Allen wrench or plastic
body rivet pin should be 40 mm
long (allowable clearance for the
tool in the vehicle). Mark 25 mm
of the 40 mm length with paint
or something similar: this is the
depth limit inside the ventilation
filter hole in order to remove the
filter.
5. Insert the 3 mm diameter pin or
Allen wrench 25 mm into the
hole, displacing the filter as
shown in the photo. Repeat this
process several times. Note: The
filter remains inside the
headlight, but is no longer
needed.
6. Perform this procedure for the
other side.
7. Reinstall the cap and cover for
both sides.
8. Drive the vehicle or leave the
headlight on for about half an

hour, until the fog or
condensation clears up.

repair; use the Plus code labor operation 51 76 536 instead.
Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of the
last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the “Search” button, and then enter the applicable
flat rate labor operation in the FR code field.
Even though work time labor operation code 63 99 000 ends in “000,” it is not considered a Main labor operation.
