Bulletin Classification: This campaign bulletin addresses a known non-safety-related condition and provides
recommended technical diagnosis and repair procedures. Apply this procedure to all vehicles in the affected VIN range
listed. These instructions assume knowledge of motor vehicle and high voltage electrical component repairs, and should
only be executed by trained professionals. Tesla assumes no liability for injury or property damage due to a failure to
properly follow these instructions or repairs attempted by unqualified individuals.

Condition
On some Model 3 vehicles, one or two HV battery breather valves might be missing or improperly installed.

Correction
Inspect the vehicle for symptoms related to the condition. If symptoms are present, replace the HV battery vent
assemblies that are missing HV battery breather valves.

Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle (refer to Service Manual procedure 10000205).
2. Insert a video scope through the mid aero shield to inspect the LH and RH HV battery vent assemblies (Figures 1
and 2):

If both HV battery breather valves are present and properly installed (the HV battery breather valve should be
flush with the HV battery vent assembly), discontinue this procedure.



If any HV battery breather valves are missing or improperly installed (i.e., not flush or parallel with the HV
battery vent assembly), continue to the next step.

3. Inspect the vent hole for evidence of water or debris ingress (Figure 2).


If evidence is found, create a Toolbox session, add photos of evidence, and escalate the session.



If no evidence is found, continue to the next step.

4. Enter these key phrases, as appropriate, into the Cause Narrative field of the Repair Order:


LH breather valve absent.



LH breather water/debris entry.



RH breather valve absent.



RH breather water/debris entry.

5. Replace any HV battery vent assemblies that are missing HV battery breathers.
NOTE: Only install 1098630-00-G or newer.
NOTE: New HV battery vent assemblies do not come with HV battery breather valves preinstalled. For every HV
battery vent assembly ordered, also order 1 HV battery breather valve.


Affected Model 3 vehicles built between approximately September 15, 2017 and August 5, 2018.
