Title

Engine Brake Only Works With The Brake Pedal, No Function During Cruise - US07
And Newer Emissions, Model Year 2008 And Newer

Cause

Incorrect parameter setting.

Solution

If the engine brake only works with the brake pedal and you have no function during
cruise, this is generally a result of a parameter setting. An e-service case will need to be
opened with the following information:
a. A complete description of the customer report with all symptoms noted by both the
customer report and the technician.
b. A complete DTC readout from the time of the truck's arrival.
c. A thorough description of any repair history that could potentially be related to this
issue - "Truck has been in for this previously" with no other details does not provide any
information for review.
d. If any diagnostic work was performed prior to the case, all test performed with
numerical values of the results should be provided.
- "Performed GD", "Checked system", "Okay", "Good" are not acceptable descriptions
and values for work performed.

Internal comments (BO)

If the unit's engine brake only works with the brake pedal and has no function during
cruise the parameter CDB should be checked. With this complaint the parameter CDB is
most likely set to the " OFF " value. An E-Service case will need to be created so the
CDB parameter can be set to the " ON " value.
