Unlocking Trunk with Remote Unlocks All Doors
MODEL

F30 (3 Series Sedan)

SITUATION

After programming the vehicle with ISTA/P 2.47.1, unlocking the trunk with the remote changes to unlocking all
the doors.
CAUSE

An application error occurred after programming the vehicle to the Personal Profile Setting (PIA) in the Front
Electronic Module (FEM).
CORRECTION

Program the vehicle using ISTA/P 3.53.1 or higher.
PROCEDURE

1. Check that the settings in the Central Information Display (CID) are set to unlock the trunk only. Select via
the controller (Menu / Settings / Door / Key / “Tailgate”).
Select and set to “unlock tailgate only.” Retest the remote trunk button functionality.
Proceed to the next step only if there is no setting for the “tailgate” in CID.
2. Vehicles without configuration in the CID must be programmed with SITA/P 3.53.1 or higher. Connect the
vehicle to ISTA/P and update the software. Add the FEM to the measures plan for coding if it is not listed.
After programming, reset the customer profile from the CID (Menu / Setting / Profile / select each profile
then push option button and select reset). Then let the vehicle enter sleep mode and recheck the function. If
the trunk functionality is still not correct, proceed to the next step.
This function is set as the default in the US market after the software update.
3. For vehicles produced before July 2012 without Comfort Access (Option 322), when programming the
vehicle with ISTA/P 3.53.1 or higher, you must add this conversion to your measure plan: “Conversion,
opening of rear lid without unlocking possible.” After the software update is complete, reset the profile and
let the vehicle enter sleep mode.

In this case, the VO will add +OEOE to the vehicle order.

Labor operation code 00 00 006 is a Main labor operation. If you are using a Main labor code for another repair,
use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead.
Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of
the last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the “Search” button, and then enter the
applicable flat rate labor operation in the FR code field.
If a control module or component was working properly and/or had no related faults stored prior to vehicle
programming and it fails to program correctly or requires initialization, this additional work must be claimed with
separate labor operations under the defect code listed above; refer to KSD2.
Repairs to control modules and components with pre-existing conditions are not eligible to be claimed under the
defect code listed in this bulletin.
