Summary
Ticking Noise from Driveshaft During "Hard" Acceleration. A clicking noise is heard from the center of the vehicle during hard acceleration. The right side parking-brake tube comes into contact with the driveshaft.

Ticking Noise from Driveshaft During "Hard" Acceleration

SITUATION
A clicking noise is heard from the center of the vehicle during hard acceleration.
CAUSE
The right side parking-brake tube comes into contact with the driveshaft.
CORRECTION
Access the driveshaft and parking-brake cable tubes using Repair Instruction 26 11 000, “Removing and installing
carbon propeller shaft (inserted) complete S55).”
Note: It is only necessary to remove the exhaust and heat shields. Do not remove the driveshaft for this
repair.
There must be a minimum distance of
10 mm between the parking-brake tube
and the driveshaft (1).
Unclip the cable tube (1).

Cold bend the cable tube at point (1).
Bend the cable tube until there is a
minimum of 10 mm clearance between
the driveshaft and cable tube (1).
Reinstall the cable tube into the cable clip, heat shields and exhaust. Test drive to verify the repair.

Labor operation code 18 00 018 is a Main labor operation. If you are using a Main labor code for another repair,
use the Plus code labor operation 18 00 518 instead.
Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of
the last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the “Search” button, and then enter the
applicable flat rate labor operation in the FR code field.
Even though work time labor operation code 34 99 000 ends in “000,” it is not considered a Main labor operation.
Also, since the “work time” FRU allowance to be claimed is specified, a separate punch time is not required.
