N16: Fault 274D Mixture Adaptation Is Stored in the DME
MODEL

SITUATION

Certain low speed, light-load driving conditions at lower outside temperatures could cause the Service Engine
Soon lamp (MIL) to illuminate. The following fault would be stored in the DME:


Fault 274D: Mixture adaptation, lower engine speed range (mixture too lean)

CAUSE

1. Possible intake/exhaust leaks, or a faulty component as listed in the test plan
2. Unfavorable DME software
PROCEDURE

Perform the recommended test module using the latest version of ISTA/D. Repair any defects found.
Program the vehicle using the latest version of ISTA/P.

Workshop Technology / Vehicle Programming.
Always connect a MINI approved battery charger/power supply (SI M04 08 09).
For R60 and R61
Target Integration level: R056-13-11-500 or higher
For R55, R56, R57, R58, and R59
Target Integration level: R056-14-03-500 or higher

Labor operation code 00 00 006 is a Main labor operation. If you are using a Main labor code for another repair,
use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead.
Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of
the last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the “Search” button, and then enter the
applicable flat rate labor operation in the FR code field.
Work time (WT) labor operation 61 00 006 requires an individual punch time.
If control module(s) fail to reprogram or initializations are required, the additional work must be claimed using
separate labor operations found in KSD2 under the defect code listed above.
