Summary
Driver or Passenger's Front Doors Handles Inoperable. Sporadically it is not possible to open the driver or passenger's front door from the outside or inside door handle. Multiple attempts will eventually open the door. Comfort access operation of the outside door handle works properly. This situation occurs at temperatures below 37 F. SITUATION
Sporadically it is not possible to open the driver or passenger’s front door from the outside or inside
door handle. Multiple attempts will eventually open the door. Comfort access operation of the
outside door handle works properly. This situation occurs at temperatures below 37 °F.
CAUSE
Incorrect routing of the Bowden cable.
PROCEDURE
In order to correct the routing of the cable, refer to ISTA repair instructions “5121125 Removing
and installing/replacing support for left or right outer door handle with lock barrel.
This picture shows that the Bowden
cable is clipped in place on the
support, which is putting unnecessary
stress on the cable.
Unclip the cable from the support and
retest, to make sure that the door opens
freely each time.

Refer to ISTA repair instructions for
installing any parts that were removed
to gain access to the Bowden cable:
“5121125 Removing and
installing/replacing support for left or
right outer door handle with lock
barrel”.
