RE: ALL HORTON MODULES FITTED WITH TRIMARK CABLE LATCH SYSTEM
Horton continually works to improve our processes and quality based on feedback from dealers, the
warranty team, service, assembly and suppliers.
ISSUE
Some vehicles might experience premature failures in the upper and/or lower cables used to trigger the
door latches. The situation has been isolated to the curb side entry door. It has been demonstrated
during testing that the current latch design adds a small side loading to the cable ends that, in
combination with an out of adjustment system, causes stress fractures to the cable strands.

reduces the possibility of adding the side load to the cable system.

Also, the new latch design has a machined half-moon notch that differentiates it from the previous
version.

RECOMMENDED ACTION IN THE FIELD
The proper repair procedure includes:
1. Replace the old latches.
2. Replace upper and lower cables.
3. Verify correct adjustment and operation.
4. Return old latches to TriMark.

Remove door panels as shown

• Using a #2 Phillips head bit and cordless drill, remove inside grab rails
and door handle escutcheon(black plastic bezel). Take care to
remove wiring plugs for electric door locks (if equipped)

• Remove door strut screws as shown.

Remove Curbside Door Window(if equipped)

• Install painters tape on outside of door on outer window frame to hold
window in place.
• Remove screws from inside window frame and remove inside frame only.

Remove Upper and Lower Inner Door Panels

Using #2 Phillips bit and cordless drill,
remove center panel and set aside.

Using #2 Phillips bit and cordless drill,
remove upper door panel and position as
shown in doorway.

•

Remove lower panel as shown and set
aside.

Remove Upper and Lower Cables

Using side cuts, remove zipties from clevis clips and discard.
Using small flat head screw driver, remove clevis clip and discard.
Using 7/16” wrenches loosen cable nuts on upper and lower cable brackets.
Remove cables from upper and lower latches and set aside. Take note of the label on
the cable and match with new cable with same dash version. The new cables will be
marked with a red paint stripe.
• If tag is missing, measure the length between the latch cable bracket to the handle
cable bracket to determine correct cable length.

Remove Upper and Lower Latch Brackets

• Using 7/16” shallow socket and ratchet, remove lock nuts and latch brackets as
shown.
• Set aside lock nuts and brackets for re-use.

Remove Upper and Lower Latches

• Using T27 Torx bit and ratchet, remove three bolts from upper and lower latches and
remove latches from vehicle.
• Retain bolts for reuse.

Replacement Part Identification

• To ensure the correct parts are being replaced, check new latches to verify that the
new parts have a machined half moon notch on them as shown.

Install Replacement Latches

• Using T27 Torx bit and ratchet, install new upper and lower latches.
• Use Torque Wrench set to 96 - 120 inch lbs to torque bolts to proper rating.
• Re-install latch brackets with lock nuts using 7/16” shallow socket and ratchet.

Assemble Cables (if needed)

• Assemble the following items onto the cables as shown in the following order, 2 -1/420 nuts, 1 flange nut, and one clevis.
• Take care to ensure that cable nut is threaded to the halfway point of the cable fitting
as shown.

Install Upper and Lower Cables

• Install the end of cable with the compression spring to upper and lower latches
using 7/16” wrench while holding round cable fitting with pliers as shown. Do not
adjust the preset clevis.
• Install the opposite end of cable to the outside handle cable bracket while taking
care to ensure that the clevis is lined up properly with the hole without any preload.
Adjust clevis up or down as needed. Refer to video instructions and pictures below
to verify this step is followed properly.

Install Clevis Clips and Secure
• Install clevis clips and check timing on the latches.
• Verify cable threaded fitting is visible in cross hole to ensure minimum thread engagement.

• Once timing is set, place zip ties on all four clevis clips and trim excess material.
• Use a 11/32” wrench and torque flange nut against clevis.

Inspect Inner Door Handle for Gator Clip

• Inspect door for proper installation of Gator Clip on bracket above lock rod as shown.
• If missing or out of position, replace with new Gator Clip and remove rear door
panels to inspect rear doors for same clip.

Reassemble Door and Verify Repairs

Reinstall upper and lower and center door panels
Re-secure door strut to door
Reinstall inner window frame
Reconnect wiring for electric door locks and reinstall inner door
handle panel.
• Reinstall grab handles (if equipped)
• Verify opening and closing timing of both latches when operating
outer or inner door handles.
• Fill out return tag for both latches and turn in to warranty for shipping
back to vendor Trimark.
