CONDITION SUMMARY:

SITUATION:
The under hood lower Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) pads and dirty air duct guides may show signs
of ripping, tearing, and/or has a poor finish.
CAUSE:
This may be caused by ice build up between the foam surfaces and the hood, causing penetration into
the foam.
ACTION:
Should a customer express this concern, follow the Workshop Procedure below.

WORKSHOP PROCEDURE:

Open the hood.

NOTES:
Perform this step to both sides of the vehicle.
Right-hand shown; left-hand similar.



Remove and discard the under hood lower right-hand Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) pad.

Use a suitable degreaser to clean the area.

To avoid cross-contamination (galvanic corrosion), this Step must be performed using
either a new, unused drill bit or an aluminum-repair-only drill bit.
A Zinc-rich primer must be applied to any bare metal surfaces after drilling.

NOTES:
Perform this step to both sides of the vehicle.
Cleanliness is important to avoid galvanic corrosion.
Make sure any swarf is removed/cleaned away.



Drill a new 6.5 mm diameter hole as shown.
