REPLACING DAMAGED RECLINER PARACHUTE RELEASE
INTERIORS

Purpose
This document provides instructions on replacing a damaged parachute pull release.

Safety
Read and understand all instructions and adhere to safety labels before beginning any component
replacement.
Always wear eye protection when performing this installation procedure. Other safety equipment
to consider would be gloves and possibly a full face shield, depending on the nature of the
installation procedure.

The “WARNING” symbol above is a sign that an installation procedure has a safety risk involved and
may cause death or serious injury if not performed safely and within the parameters set forth in this
manual.

Procedure
1.

Remove the backrest.
A. Pull outward on the spring clip (Fig. 1) that is attached to the backrest structure. Lift up to remove
the backrest from the chair.

Place the chair on the ground (Fig. 2) arm-side down. Release the footrest.

Remove the wood screws (Fig. 3A) that secures the armrest to the side of the seat frame (Fig. 3B).

NOTE: Mechanisms after the year 2016 are attached to the armrest directly.

Look for any wood screws hidden under the mechanism. To do this, remove the mechanism by
removing the four wood screws (Fig. 4A) around the perimeter of the mechanism (Fig. 4A).

Refer to figure 5 for the following:
A. The parachute handle on the seat frame on the side that was against the arm.
B. Put the parachute 6" from the front edge of the seat cushion.
C. Make sure the parachute screw plate is near the top edge of the seat's wooden framework.

NOTE: Mechanisms after the year 2016 are attached to the armrest and have a designated location for the
parachute screw plate on the armrest (Fig. 6).

Remove old cable from mechanism (Fig. 7).

NOTE: It may be necessary to break the parachute cable clip that is snapped in to the mechanism.

Mechanism

Secure the new parachute cable clip in the mechanism slot and insert the "S" into the lower hole of the
mechanism actuator.
Secure the recliner mechanism to the seat structure.
Utilizing the same holes, secure the seat frame and mechanism onto the arm structure with the
previously removed wood screws.
A. Make sure not to overtighten the screws and strip out the holes.
B. Make sure the seat's wooden frame meets the armrest wood at the lower corner of the armrest
structure.
C. Make sure the footrest is even with the front lower corner of the armrest structure.
