A clicking noise is heard from front brakes when
vehicle is being driven at low speeds in either direction.

Technical Background
Only Ceramic Brakes are affected (PR code 1LW).
The pads may be moving back and forth inside the caliper, which causes the noise.

Production Solution
New brake pad in use.

Service
1. Install new brake pads on both sides according to the instructions in the Elsa Repair Manual at Chassis >>
Brake System >> 46 Mechanical Components >> Front Brakes >> Brake Pads Removing and Installing Ceramic
Brakes.
 The brake pistons must be clean.
Brake cleaner can be used to
clean the brake pistons. Ensure
that the contact surfaces are free
of dust and grease and they are
dry.
 Only remove the protective paper
from the adhesive foil on the
brake pad immediately before
installation (Figure 2), and do not
touch the adhesive surface.

Note:
After installing the pads, keep full brake pressure for about 5 seconds to ensure that the pads are properly
bonded to the pistons.
2. Brake Embedding:
A. Perform 10 stops from approximately 65 mph to 30 mph with medium brake application.
B. Drive approximately 2 minutes at 40mph without braking to allow the brakes to cool down.
C. Repeat steps A and B if necessary.
