Customer states:
 The vehicle is already in the workshop for a repair.
Workshop findings:
 As part of a repair, the mechatronic unit and/or the gear sensor G676 are replaced.
The necessary basic setting of the gear sensor is not possible, because the following DTC cannot be deleted from
the transmission control module (TCM), J217 (address word 0002):
 DTC P179E00 (Sensor of driving mode, electric fault, active/static).

Technical Background
ODIS and TCM communication issue.

Not applicable.

Service
Tip: You will need two ODIS testers to perform this repair.
With the 1st ODIS scan tool
 Start the Guided Fault Finding at an ATF temperature of over 22°C and select address 0002.

 In the basic settings select the calibration of the gear sensor -G676-.
Tip: Do not start the basic settings of the gear sensor G676:
 Disconnect the first diagnostic tester.
 Connect a second diagnostic tester.
 Using self-diagnosis, manually check and delete the DTC P179E00 from the TCM diagnosis address 0002.
Tip: Do not perform an ignition cycle and do not check again whether the event entry has been deleted (the
DTC entry is now passive/sporadic in the background).
 Disconnect the 2nd diagnostic tester.
 Reconnect the original diagnostic tester to perform the basic settings of the gear sensor G676 according to the
Guided Fault Finding.
