Check Luggage Cover

Daimler AG (“DAG”), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain MY18
A205 platform (C-Class Cabriolet) vehicles, the trunk luggage cover may not meet production
specifications, which could prevent the convertible top from opening. An authorized Mercedes-Benz will
check the luggage cover and replace it if necessary.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:
•

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously
repaired.

•

Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as
described.

Approximately 454 vehicles are affected.

Check/test procedure A
1. Move soft top to repair position R2.
For basic data, see AR77.30-P-1030LWR.
2. The marking (dot, (A)) and production date (B) must be checked (figure 1) on the object number adhesive label
of the partially electric truck luggage cover.
The marking can be a green, blue or black dot (A).

Check/test procedure B
Check magnetic pockets.
1. Check heat-sealing at both magnetic pockets of partially electric trunk luggage cover (figure 2).
The heat-sealing of the magnetic pockets must be sealed at all 4 sides
(figures 3 (OK image) and 4 (not OK)).

Check rib of housing.
2. Remove cover (C) of partially electric trunk luggage cover (figure 5).
For this purpose, remove all 23 screws and place cover (C) to side on net (figure 6).

3. Check rib of housing below plunger.
Rib of housing may not be damaged (figure 7).
The plunger (D) must be able to freely move through the rib (E) (figure 8).

Check cable set of partially electric trunk luggage cover.
4. Check position of flat-wire connectors (F) of electrical cable set for drive
(figure 9).
Flat-wire connectors may not lie one above the other (figure 10 (not OK image).

5. Check cable set for damage (figure 11).

a. All test conditions OK:
Assemble in reverse order and end measure.
b. Heat-sealing of magnetic pocket not OK:
Carry out work procedure A.
c. Rib of housing below plunger not OK:
Carry out work procedure A.
d. Cable set not OK:
Perform work procedures B and C.
e. Position of flat-wire connectors not OK:
Carry out work procedure C.

Work procedure A

1. Replace partially electric trunk luggage cover.
AR68.50-P-3003LWR.

Work procedure B
1. Repair cable set at damaged location.
AR00.19-P-0100A.

Work procedure C

1. Correctly position flat-wire connectors.
2. Route blue cable (G) along threaded connection opening (figure 12).
3. Route red cable (H) downwards (figure 12).

4. Attach fabric tape (I) over red flat-wire connectors (figure 13).

5. Assemble in reverse order.
