1. Introduction
Refuse fleet and other vehicles operating in severe duty applications may benefit from
additional shielding or protection for the CNG cylinder inside the system cabinet.
There are two kits available (one for the left side and one for the right side) for 257 series
side mount systems, consisting of a 1/8-in. thick steel bottom cover, a 3/8-in. thick steel
outside front corner guard and a 1/4-in. thick internal gusset. See Figures 1 and 2.
The plates are mounted on the plug end of the cabinet (toward the front of the vehicle) and
are designed for “remove and replace” installation on existing systems.

2. Affected Units
The shield plate kits are made for Agility Fuel Solutions 257 series left- or right-side
mounted CNG fuel systems.

3. Corrective Action
Does not apply. This is an option to help increase cylinder protection.

4. Tools and Materials
•

Personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection.

•

Common hand and power tools for CNG fuel system maintenance and service.

•

25799011 for left hand side, with fuel management module (FMM)

•

25799010 for right hand side and no FMM

•

Fasteners can be cleaned and re-used if they are un-damaged.

A. Use proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
B. Exercise caution when drilling. Do not allow the drill bit to contact the cylinder,
PRD, tubing or other components.

5. Procedure
The right side kit (25799010) is used to illustrate the steps below.
1. Remove the 3/8-in. bolts securing the existing aluminum bottom cover and replace
with the new steel cover.
2. See Figures 2, 3, 4 and 5. Install the front corner guard.

3. Refer to Figure 6. The corner guard is attached with a total of 8 bolts:
a. System cabinet bottom rear, 3 bolts: Two existing 3/8-in. holes are occupied
with flat head Allen bolts. These are removed and replaced with 3/8-in. x
1.75-in. hex head bolts. One new hole must be drilled for a 3/8-16 x 1.5-in.
hex head bolt.

b. You may use the corner guard as a drilling template to simplify the task. Drill
carefully and avoid drilling into the cylinder, PRD or any tubing inside the
cabinet.

these and replace them with 3/8-16 x 1.75-in. hex head bolts. The existing nut-clip (3) will be
used for the third 3/8-16 x 1.5-in. hex head bolt.

c. Cabinet rear cover, 1 bolt: One 3/8-16 x 1.5-in. bolt is used to fasten the
guard and the back cover.
d. Cabinet bottom front, 3 bolts: Slots in a triangular pattern are used for the
bottom front. One hole is for a 1/4-20 bolt as indicated in Figures 3 and 4.
e. Bottom front to the front extrusion, 1 bolt, see Figures 3 and 4.
f. Next, install the internal gusset.

4. The internal gusset at the end of the cylinder cabinet is mounted with 2 bolts, see
Figure 9.

a. Drill one new 3/8-in. hole in the plastic end cap as shown in Figure 10. Use
the corner guard already installed to locate the hole.
b. Fasten the corner using a 3/8-16 x 1.5-in. hex head bolt.

c. See Figure 11. The second of two bolts for the internal gusset is located
inside the system cabinet, at the bottom of the D-plate door opening. Use the
outer-most hole of the two. Mount the gusset using a 3/8-16 x 1.5-in. hex
head bolt.
