IMPORTANT EMISSION RECALL
This notice applies to your vehicle.
Dear CMX300/A or CMX500/A Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency.
WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS NOTICE?
Honda has determined that a defect related to emissions regulations exists in all model 2017, and certain model
year 2018 Honda CMX300/A and CMX500/A - Rebel motorcycles. The fuel vapor permeation of the EVAP canister
charge hose exceeds the federal permeation standards. An updated part, made of a different material, is available to
correct this condition.
EMISSION CONSEQUENCE
Your motorcycle may be releasing air pollutants that exceed federal emission standards. This nonconformity, if not repaired, may cause the motorcycle to fail a vehicle inspection or Smog Check test when
such tests are required under state law.
WHAT WILL HONDA DO?
An authorized Honda motorcycle dealer will replace the EVAP canister charge hose, as part of a pre-assembled hose
bundle, with the updated part free of charge.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Please call any authorized Honda motorcycle dealer and make an appointment to have your motorcycle’s EVAP
canister charge hose replaced for free.
Replacing the EVAP canister charge hose, as part of a pre-assembled hose bundle, will take approximately one to
two hours to complete; however, please ask your dealer for the specific time your motorcycle will need to be at the
dealership.

CHECK YOUR MOTORCYCLE FOR OPEN RECALLS
To check your motorcycle’s eligibility for repair under this or any recall, please access the Honda Recall Lookup
tool at www.powersports.honda.com/recalls.aspx and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
CALIFORNIA OWNERS ONLY
The DMV will not renew your registration until this emissions recall has been completed. After completing the
repair procedure, your dealer will give you a Vehicle Emission Recall - Proof of Correction certificate. Please make
sure the dealer completes and gives you the certificate. Keep the certificate for your records as proof that the
emissions recall was completed. Submit the certificate to the DMV only if the DMV requests it.
EMISSION WARRANTY
In order to ensure your full protection under the emission warranty provisions, it is recommended that you have
your vehicle repaired as soon as possible. Failure to do so could be determined as lack of proper maintenance.
OWNER INFORMATION
You received this recall notice because government regulations require that notification be sent to the last known
owner of record. Our records are based primarily on state registration and title data, which indicate that you are the
current owner of this motorcycle. If this is not the case, or if any of the information is incorrect, please complete,
sign and return the Information Change Card and we will update our records. If you are a lessor of this motorcycle,
federal regulations require you to forward this notice to your lessee within ten days.
