General Information
The chassis side fairing lower air deflectors are attached with C-clips that could become loose if dislodged or
disturbed. In certain circumstances, a deflector may separate from the truck. To improve the retention of an air
deflector, rivets can be added as described in the following work instruction.
Drill the ends of each fairing, at points spaced evenly between the ends, to accommodate four rivets for a front
fairing, five rivets for a center fairing, and three rivets for a rear fairing; see Fig. 1. See Table 1 for rivet part
information.

Riveting an Air Deflector to a Fairing
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake. Chock the tires.

IMPORTANT: Complete the following steps at each side fairing of the vehicle.
2. Ensure that the lip of the air deflector is situated properly on the fairing. See Fig. 2.

IMPORTANT: Leave factory-installed C-clips in place. If C-clips are installed at a fairing end, drill rivet
holes on the inside of the clips as needed.
3. With the deflector and fairing held together and the deflector out of the way, use a 90 degree drill with a 13/
64" bit to drill a hole through the center of the lip of the deflector and bottom of the fairing. See Fig. 3.

4. Install a rivet in the drilled hole to attach the deflector to the fairing. See Fig. 4.
5. Repeat until each rivet is installed for the fairing.
