Descripción de las modificaciones: Este boletín reemplaza la
versión anterior, con fecha de Julio 2001. Se ha corregido la fecha
de inicio del cambio en producción, y se ha incluido una nota en la
sección "Información general" sobre libros impresos de diagramas
de cableado.
Información general
IMPORTANTE: Vea información relacionada en el boletín de servicio de Sterling SB 54-20, Identificadores de
cableado inconsistentes o incorrectos.
A partir del 27 de febrero de 2001, se comenzó a fabricar los vehículos Línea L, Línea A y Acterra con un nuevo
tipo de sistema de cableado. Este sistema es similar al sistema anterior de vehículos Acterra y utiliza arneses
de puente. El código de colores y la numeración de circuitos de arneses de cable han cambiado. La numeración
de los circuitos está ahora en el mismo formato que el sistema anterior de vehículos Acterra.
Los diagramas y diagramas esquemáticos de arneses de cables han sido actualizados después del cambio en
producción del cableado. Para localizar averías de forma apropiada en el nuevo sistema, debe usar los diagramas y diagramas esquemáticos nuevos. Los diagramas están disponibles en línea mediante EZWiring.
NOTA: El manual de diagramas de cableado para vehículos Sterling Línea A, Línea L y Cargo (STI-288) y el
manual de diagramas de cableado para vehículos Acterra (STI-427.ML) incluyen información para vehículos fabricados ANTES del 27 de febrero de 2001.
IMPORTANTE: Las luces de freno no se encienden cuando se ponen los frenos de estacionamiento en vehículos Línea L y Línea A fabricados después del cambio al nuevo tipo de cableado. Esto es cierto también para
vehículos Acterra fabricados antes y después del cambio en el cableado.
Puntos más importantes del cambio en el cableado
Arnés principal del tablero
El arnés principal del tablero tiene cables para uso futuro de la ICU IV (aún no disponible). Hay un arnés de
puente que conecta al conjunto de instrumentos (Ametek) o a medidores individuales.
Filtro de PLC
Hay un filtro de PLC (comunicaciones de portador de línea de energía) incorporado al arnés de siete vías del
remolque, desde la caja de distribución de energía hasta el receptáculo hembra de siete cables. El suministro
de energía del remolque del ABS y la señal de la lámpara del ABS comparten un cable común. El filtro de PLC
separa las señales, permitiendo así que un cable desempeñe dos funciones.
Cableado de control del ventilador
El cableado del ventilador de aire ha cambiado. El interruptor de invalidación automática del ventilador ya no
está encaminado a través de la entrada del A/C al ECM (módulo de control electrónico) del motor. En vehículos
con motores Caterpillar
, Cummins
, o Detroit Diesel, el interruptor de invalidación automática (si está instalado)
es normalmente cerrado, y está conectado en serie con el circuito de solenoide de aire/eléctrico del ventilador
(circuito a prueba de fallo). El solenoide de aire/eléctrico está unido a una línea de aire para funcionamiento normalmente abierto o normalmente cerrado, dependiendo del funcionamiento del ventilador. En vehículos con
motores Mercedes-Benz
, un interruptor diferente (normalmente abierto) envía una señal de tierra a la VCU (unidad de control del vehículo).

Enlace de datos J1939
Los conectores y resistores límite del enlace de datos J1939 han cambiado. Ya no se usan conectores de unión
de empalme. En su lugar se usan conectores en Y para extender los arneses hacia afuera o para instalar los resistores límite.
Bloque de unión de J1587
Hay un bloque de unión de J1587 (similar al de vehículos Acterra) ubicado dentro de la cabina, en el lado del
conductor. Es un bloque de unión tipo enchufe y es más fácil de conectar a y desconectar del enlace de datos.
Conector A del tabique divisorio
Ubicado en la parte inferior del lado del conductor, el conector A (anteriormente un sólo conector de 76 espigas)
ha sido reemplazado por dos conectores más pequeños, de 34 espigas. El conector superior se une al arnés
del motor y el inferior se une al arnés de la transmisión.
Conector B del tabique divisorio
Ubicado en la parte superior del lado del conductor, el conector B no ha cambiado. Es un sólo conector de 76
espigas y conecta la mitad de los cables que van a la caja de distribución de energía.
Conector C del tabique divisorio
Ubicado en el lado del pasajero, el conector C (anteriormente un sólo conector de 76 espigas) ha sido reemplazado por dos conectores más pequeños, de 34 espigas. El conector superior conecta la otra mitad de los cables
que van a la caja de distribución de energía (los que no vienen del conector B). El conector inferior se une al arnés del chasis.
Interruptor de alta presión/ciclo del ventilador del A/C
Éste es un interruptor de cuatro terminales, normalmente cerrado, que proporciona información de entrada del
A/C al ECM. El cable común (–) del ECM atraviesa el interruptor del A/C normalmente cerrado y regresa a la
entrada de A/C del ECM.
Suministros de energía
Muchos de los suministros de energía (motor, transmisión, etc.) han sido cambiados del panel de distribución de
energía en la cabina a la caja de distribución de energía, fuera de la cabina. Esto reduce la cantidad de cables
que entran y salen de la cabina, y proporciona espacio adicional alrededor del panel de distribución de energía.
VIM de Allison
El VIM (módulo de interfaz del vehículo) de Allison ya no se usa, y ha sido reemplazado por fusibles y relevadores en el panel de distribución de energía.
