Description of Revision: This bulletin replaces the version dated
February 2006. An additional SRT has been added for the Four
Winds Mandalay parts installation.

General Information
Some Four Winds Mandalay Recreational Vehicles with side radiators and a 400-horsepower engine have been
experiencing overheating issues. For a list of affected units, see Table 1 in Service Solution 2305 for this service bulletin. Installation of a recirculation shield prevents recirculated air from entering the cooling system. Follow the instructions below to complete this installation.

Recirculation Shield Installation
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. Shut down the engine, set the parking brake, and chock the tires.

IMPORTANT: Before proceeding, look at the label on the hydraulic fluid reservoir and determine the
type of hydraulic fluid used in the power steering pump. For the purpose of this service bulletin, hydraulic fluid refers to 15W40 motor oil.
If the reservoir is filled with Dexron III, the fluid needs to be changed and can be drained during the
recirculation shield installation. See the ATF to 15W40 hydraulic system fluid replacement instructions
later in this bulletin.
If the reservoir is filled with 15W40 motor oil, fluid draining is not required. Precautions should be
taken when disconnecting the hydraulic line from the hydraulic fluid cooler inlet so that fluid is not
lost. A clean lint free cloth can be loosely stuffed in the line to reduce fluid loss.
2. On some chassis, the hydraulic line from the fan motor to the inlet side of the hydraulic oil cooler needs to
be routed through the radiator bracket, if the hydraulic line cannot be routed between the recirculation shield
and the radiator bracket. Follow the steps below to route the line correctly.

IMPORTANT: The hydraulic fluid will be under pressure. Take the necessary precautions to minimize
the loss of fluid.
3. Place a drip pan under the hydraulic fluid cooler inlet. Remove the hydraulic line from the power steering
cooler inlet.
4. Using a clean shop rag, cap the power steering cooler inlet to retain the fluid.
5. Remove the existing P-clip bracket, and install the new one. The new bracket supports the P-clip on the
front of the radiator. See Fig. 1.
6. Using four 3/8 x 1-1/2 inch bolts, install the recirculation shield.
7. Using two 14-inch x 1-inch self-tapping screws, connect the leading edge of the lower recirculation shield to
the bottom of the front recirculation shield.
8. Route the hydraulic line through the radiator support bracket. See Fig. 2.
9. Connect the hydraulic line to the cooler inlet.
10. Check the hydraulic fluid. Add fluid as needed to replace any that was lost during this procedure.

1. Place a drip pan under the hydraulic reservoir suction port (the largest hose).
2. Disconnect the inlet line to the power steering reservoir and let the hydraulic fluid drain out.
3. Fill the power steering pump reservoir with 15W40 multigrade oil. Start the engine.
4. Turn the steering wheel left and right three times.
5. Let the engine run at idle until the oil begins to come out through the inlet line. Watch for the color of the oil
to change from red to amber.

CAUTION
Turn off the engine at this point, or damage will occur to the pump.
6. Turn off the engine.
7. Reconnect the line to the inlet.

NOTE: If the hydraulic line has to be rerouted, route the line through the radiator support bracket.
See Fig. 2.
8. Check and correct the fluid level in the power steering pump reservoir.
9. Remove the old hydraulic fluid label and apply the new label (24-01429-000).
10. Remove the chocks from the tires.

Parts
Parts are available from the PDCs. See Table 1. Mandalay parts (including a grille, shroud, insulation, etc.) will
come in a kit and must be ordered directly from Mandalay. There is no charge to the dealer for Mandalay parts.
