Some customers may comment when shifting to reverse and/or to drive (performing

garage shifts) the transmission may experience a delayed engagement when performing

the garage shift.

Note: The engagement may be followed by a bump. This condition may also be

intermittent.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a software anomaly.
Correction
An updated software calibration has been released to address this condition.
Service Procedure

Reprogram the K71 Transmission Control Module

(TCM) with the latest calibrations available on

TIS2WEB. Refer to K71 Transmission Control Module:

Programming and Setup in SI.
Important: Stable battery voltage is critical during

programming. Any fluctuation, spiking, over voltage or

loss of voltage will interrupt programming. Install the

EL-49642 SPS Programming Support Tool (GM Dealer

Equipment Item #PSC-550) to maintain system voltage.

If not available, connect a fully charged 12 V jumper or

booster pack disconnected from the AC voltage supply.

DO NOT connect a battery charger.
