This condition may be caused by the front level sender failing to register fuel transfer

properly causing the transfer pump to continuously transfer fuel to the fuel tank, causing

the tank to expand past its specifications resulting in one or both of the following:

• On gasoline powered vehicles, fuel forced into the evaporative emissions system.

⇒ All fuel driven vehicles, the drive shaft (2) may contact the aluminized steel

shield (1) on the inboard side of the fuel tank creating noises as it grinds a

hole through the shield and through the plastic fuel tank resulting in a fuel

leak (3).

If the fuel tank has been validated to be the cause of the conditions listed, replace the

front fuel tank, shield, pump and level sender.
