Reason for a new version of Service Policy Letter SPL-03-0600.
This is a new version of Service Policy Letter SPL-03-0600. This SPL has changed Labour Times which include the time
for the removal and installation of auxiliary equipment. Changes to SPL-03-0600 have a black line against them in the left
margin.
Please destroy all copies of SPL-03-0600 that you have and replace them with Service Policy Letter SPL-03-1020.
Dear Colleagues,
We would like to tell you that there are now remanufactured long-block V12 engines available. These engines can only
be used as a replacement for the V12 engines that are installed in the vehicles shown in Table 1.
The new products are completely reconditioned units that have been fully tested and will give a performance and
working life comparable to that of a new engine.
The remanufactured assemblies will be available for all V12 engines that are older than 3 months in service, or have
completed 3000 miles (4800 kms) or greater.

Preparation of the removed engine
Figure 1 and Figure 2 show an engine in the correct condition to return to be reconditioned. Make sure that all
components that follow are removed:
Note:

Do not remove the spark plugs. They will give protection against contamination during transport. Always
install new spark plugs in the remanufactured engine.

• Flywheel
• Starter motor assembly and bracket
Alternator assembly and bracket
• Thermostat
• Inlet manifold assemblies
Power steering pump assembly
• Wiring harness
Ignition coils
• Accessory drive belt and tensioners
• Lifting eyes
• All brackets, hoses and pipes.
You will need to install all of these components onto the replacement long-block engine before and during installation.
Install all of the plastic sealing plugs that you remove from the remanufactured engine into the old engine for return.
We have added a time allowance for this additional work. Refer to the list of Labour Times given below.
