SITUATION

Creaking noise coming from either or both exterior rearview mirrors when folding in.

CAUSE

Accumulation of dust in the joint gap seal.
CORRECTION

On both mirrors, clean all mating surfaces and lubricate with Carbaflo KSP 105.
Note: The use of any petroleum-based product (e.g., WD-40) for the specified lubricant is not effective

in this repair.
PROCEDURE

For conditions that are similar to the situation described:
1. Fold the exterior mirror toward the front to expose the joint

gap seal (A).

2. Clean the exposed sealing surfaces (B) as follows:

• with compressed air

• then with a soft brush or cloth.

3. Coat the seal on all exposed surfaces with the lubricant

Carbaflo KSP.
4. Fold the exterior mirror toward the rear to expose the joint

gap seal (C).

5. Clean the exposed sealing surfaces (D) as follows:

• with compressed air

• then with a soft brush or cloth.

6. Coat the seal on all exposed surfaces with the lubricant

Carbaflo KSP.

7. Check the fold-in function again for noise and repeat the process if necessary.
