NEUTRAL

SITUATION
After a cold start, when the transmission gear selector is placed in R and driving resumes, intermittently
transmission may shift to Neutral

CAUSE
DME software error

CORRECTION
Reprogram and code vehicle with ISTA 4.08.xx.

PROCEDURE
For conditions that are similar to the situation described:
1. Perform diagnosis with the latest version of ISTA.
2. F22/F23, F30/F32/F33/F34/F36 - Program the vehicle using ISTA 4.08.1x or higher to the indicated
integration level.

3. G12, G30 - Program the vehicle using ISTA 4.08.2x or higher to the indicated integration level.

Note that ISTA will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the
latest software.
Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply (SI B04 23 10).
