SERVICE ACTION: CHECK COOLANT FREEZING PROTECTION
LEVEL
Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer
delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure the
next time the vehicle is in the shop.

MODEL
F22 (2 Series Coupe)

F23 (2 Series Convertible)

AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves F22 and F23 vehicles produced on October 21, 2017.
Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR,
the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader.

SITUATION
The coolant freeze point protection may be too low (coolant will freeze sooner than specified)

CAUSE
Improper mixture of coolant during factory filling.

CORRECTION
Check the coolant anti-freezing protection level of the coolant in both the high temperature and low temperature
cooling circuits with a coolant hydrometer. Affected vehicles will have a -22°C level of protection. The specified
coolant freezing protection level should be -38°C. Drain and replace the coolant in both systems (high temp and
low temp) if the coolant freezing protection level isn’t at -38°C.
