Summary
This is a Technical Service Bulletin sent to dealers. Customers may report the front seat belt fraying as a result of being caught under the seat reclining adjusting lever. This TSB instructs dealers how to replace the front seat belt and reclining adjusting lever (driver and/or passenger side) with a countermeasure part, to prevent fraying of the seat belt should it get caught under the lever, on affected vehicles.

PURPOSE
A customer may report the front seat belt fraying as a result of being caught under the seat reclining
adjusting lever. If the adjusting lever or the seat back is operated while the seat belt is caught under
the reclining adjusting lever, the seat belt can be rubbed by the edge of the reclining adjusting lever or
the tip of the tapping screw, resulting in a frayed seat belt.
NOTE: Remind customers to properly wear their seat belt and not let the belt get caught under the seat reclining
adjusting lever.

The shape of the seat reclining adjusting lever has been modified to prevent fraying of the seat belt
should it get caught under the lever.
This TSB instructs dealers how to replace the front seat belt and reclining adjusting lever (driver and/or
passenger side) with a countermeasure part on affected vehicles.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
! CAUTION
Use all tools with care to prevent scratches on interior trim.
1. Replace the affected seat belt with a new part following instructions in the applicable Service Manual.
!! IMPORTANT !!
Verify that the bolts and nuts are tightened securely to the correct
tightening torque.

2. Confirm the replacement seat reclining adjusting lever
is the new countermeasure part.
NOTE: The new part has an extended flange. This design
ensures the seat belt will not rub against the edge
of the lever or the tip of the tapping screw.

3. Remove the tapping screw, then pull out the seat lever
to the front of the vehicle and remove it.

5. Tighten the tapping screw.
6. Operate the seat reclining adjusting lever and confirm
smooth operation.
