THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS ALSO BEING RELEASED AS RAPID RESPONSE
TRANSMITTAL (RRT) 12-031. ALL APPLICABLE SOLD AND UN-SOLD RRT VIN's
HAVE BEEN LOADED. TO VERIFY THAT THIS RRT SERVICE ACTION IS
APPLICABLE TO THE VEHICLE, USE VIP OR PERFORM A VIN SEARCH IN
TECHCONNECT. ALL REPAIRS ARE REIMBURSABLE WITHIN THE PROVISIONS OF
WARRANTY.
HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS
AVAILABLE BY SELECTING “HELP” THEN “HELP CONTENTS” AT THE TOP OF
THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW.
THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 12.02 OR HIGHER TO
PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.
SUBJECT:
Flash: Vehicle Theft Alarm Intermittently Sounds
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves reprogramming the Intrusion module with new software and adding
double sided tape to secure the module.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built before February 23, 2012 (MDH 0223XX)
equipped with Premium Security Alarm (sales code LSC) ** or Deluxe
Security Alarm (sales code LSD)**.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience the theft alarm siren turning on for no reason.
This could be caused by the overhead console not retaining the intrusion module in place
as well as it should. With the module not properly secured and with temperature changes,
the wiring stiffens and relaxes moving the module. This set’s off the alarm.
Reprogramming the module is to improve sensor stability that makes it less sensitive to
movement. Adding tape to the module prevents movement.

DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH™) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in
TechCONNECT, verify no DTC's are set. If DTC's are present record them on the repair
order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other
customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE: Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2
volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the
flash process.
NOTE: If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.
1. Reprogram the Intrusion module. Help using the wiTECH Diagnostic Application for
flashing the Intrusion module is made available through the wiTECH Diagnostic
Application. For instructions select the “HELP” tab on upper portion of the wiTECH
window, then “HELP CONTENTS.” This will open the Welcome to wiTECH Help
screen where help topics can be selected.
2. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The
wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the
tech to clear them.
3. Remove the overhead console to gain access to the Intrusion module. Follow
procedures in TechCONNECT, 23 - Body / Interior / CONSOLE, Overhead,
Front/Removal.
4. Lower the module and check if the back side of the module is clean were the tape is
going to be placed, clean if necessary.
5. Apply the tape as shown in (Fig. 1).

NOTE: There are 2 pieces of tape in the package. Only one piece of tape is needed,
the 2nd piece of tape is used as a back up.
6. Reinstall the module, putting slight pressure on the module to seat the tape.
7. Install the overhead console, follow procedure in TechCIONNECT, 23 Body/Interior/CONSOLE, Overhead/Installation.
