Fixed Fork Tubes
Details
Currently there are four different version of fixed fork tubes installed on K50 and K51 models.

Version 1:
Description
Version 1 fixed fork tube and plug have a threaded screw construction and liquid screw lock (lock-tite) This version was
recalled via SI 31 001 13(013) Recall 13V-154 Front Fork Check which added four circular crimps on the fixed fork tube in
the plug area.

R 1200 GS (K50): Start of Production up to the end of October 2013
R 1200 GS Adventure (K51): Not installed
Spare parts supply
Version 1 fixed fork tubes are no longer available as replacement parts. Alternatively, version 3 fixed fork tubes can be installed if a replacement is needed. Note: both fixed fork tubes will need to be replaced.

Version 2:
Description
Version 2 fixed fork tubes have a pressed in plug with additional locking by means of four oval crimps.
This version was recalled via SI 31 002 17R2 (Recall 17V-438) "Retrofitting fixed fork tube bushing"

All vehicles produced in this period are subject to SI 31 002 17R2 (Recall 17V-438) "Retrofitting fixed fork tube bushing"
IMPORTANT: Vehicles that have received version 2 parts as replacement parts must also be retrofitted to version 3.
Spare parts supply
Version 2 fixed fork tubes are not available as replacement parts by themselves, they must be converted to version 3 fixed
fork tubes with the addition of the fixed fork tube bushing.

Version 3:
Description
Version 3 fixed fork tubes are Version 2 fixed fork tubes with a pressed on fixed fork tube bushing.

Series introduction
Version 3 fixed fork tubes were not installed at the factory in series production.
Spare parts supply
A version 3 fixed fork tube is made using a version 2 fixed fork tube and pressing on a fixed fork tube bushing.

Version 4:
Description
Version 4 fixed fork tubes have a pressed in seal plug with a 360° comprehensive crimp.
In comparison to Version 2 fixed fork tubes, the tube wall thickness and the length of the crimp were increased.
Version 3 fixed fork tubes and Version 4 fixed fork tubes are technically the same.

Spare parts supply
Version 4 fixed fork tubes are available as replacement parts for vehicles with production dates from 06/19/2017 and later
on a limited basis. Please contact [email protected] with the corresponding VIN to have these parts released. Retrospective installation as an alternative for Version 1-3 is not planned. Installation is however, technically possible.
The regular specifications of the Warranty Manual are applicable.
