Activate the Engine Brake at Level 3.
Allow the truck to coast, with the engine
brake slowing the truck down. Once
slowed, return to the same speed at
2000 RPM
Repeat with Engine Brake at Level 2.
Repeat with Engine Brake at Level 1.
NOTE: Manually select the gear if the truck has
an Allison or Eaton
Ultrashift Transmission to
help control engine speed.

4. Are all inputs correct for the clutch switch,
brake switch, or accelerator pedal?
Verify clutch switch status in the ECM
and BC
Verify brake switch status in the ECM

Verify the APS is reading 0.00% when
released
5. Is engine oil pressure within specification?
Verify 10 PSI or more at idle at operating
temperature
6. Is the wiring from the ECM to Engine Brake
solenoids within specification?
Perform a resistance test from the ECM

If they feel weak remove them and
inspect the screen and o-ring for any

during the actuator test
Flush the solenoid with clean oil
to remove any potential metal
debris. Return to Step 10 and retest operation of the solenoid
damage
If you are running this test after flushing
the solenoids, and the operation has
improved, return to Step 1
If all diagnostic steps have been completed you will need to open a Tech Service case file for
further assistance.
List the results of all diagnostic steps performed.
List any parts that have been replaced.
Export the ECM parameters and attach them for review.

Attach the Performance Session Snapshot you obtained in Step 1 of the Diagnostic Chart
