Complaint:
Engine diagnosis warning lamp activated. Fault code P045600 "Very fine leak" or P044200 "Fine leak" stored in engine control unit.
Cause:
In vehicles refueled with winter fuel at an outside temperature > 20 °C, the automatic fuel tank leak test can produce
an erroneous diagnosis.
The software of the automatic fuel tank leak test is too sensitive for the above parameters.
Remedy:
If there is no identifiable leak in the fuel system, no components may be replaced. In this case the fault code should
be erased.
Software for models 204, 212, 218, 221, 216, 166.0 with engine 276 or 278 has been available in field since August
2012.
Software for model 166.8 with engine 278 has been available in the field since August 2013 with the following add-on:
2938 for DVD 05/13 and 2939 for DVD 07/13.
Software for model 207 with engine 276 or 278 is available with Xentry DVD 05/14.
