Complaint:
Vario roof stops in an intermediate position during the opening or closing sequence and aborts the process.

When switch S84s1 - Vario roof operating switch - is pressed repeatedly, the instrument cluster shows "Close Trunk

Partition"

No fault codes are stored in the fault memory.
Cause:
The left/right locking mechanism of the luggage compartment partition wall may not be functioning correctly.
Remedy:
To establish the exact cause of the fault, please observe the following procedure:

1. Read out fault memory.

2. Evaluate stored fault codes:

- If there are no fault codes stored in the VDS (N52), the instrument cluster displays "Close Trunk Partition", and the

actual value (Xentry) of limit switch S69/10 is "Open" when the fault occurs, then continue with step 3.

- If the fault memory of the VDS (N52) contains fault codes that are not related to limit switch S69/10, then the remedy

described here does not apply.

The fault codes must then be processed in accordance with Xentry.

3. Check left and right locking mechanism (see Figure 1) of luggage compartment partition wall (see Figure 2).

- The left and right catches (see Figure 3, item 2 and Figure 4, item 3 - marked orange) should engage and allow the

partition wall to be locked down. The left catch will also enagage and close the limit switch S69/10.

4. Rectify cause of fault:

If the left or right locking mechanism is not functioning, the luggage compartment partition wall must be replaced.

After replacing the luggage compartment partition wall, erase the fault memory of the VDS (N52) if necessary.

Finally perform a function check by fully opening and fully closing the Vario roof several times.
