Complaint:
Engine intermittently shuts off immediately after starting. When restarted, the engine may exhibit rough idle for a few

seconds. However, the engine does not shut off again on a restart.

This symptom is more commonly observed on restarts after short trips and relatively short engine off periods (10 - 60

min) - engine semi-warm.

No relevant fault code entries are found in the gasoline engine control module.
Cause:
Applicable function of fuel injector actuation by engine control module.
Remedy:
Engine 276 in all models (except model 204.080 - C300 4MATIC):

Software data version VC12.0.1 (Xentry does not show digits after VC12) for the gasoline engine control module rectifies the situation and is now available.

Please install the AddOn 2694 for Xentry DVD version 01/2013 and perform the ME software update for engine control module MED 17.7

Refer to examples of engine flash software update on 166.057 model.

Engine 278 in model series 166:

Software data version VC11.2 (Xentry does not show digits after VC11) for the gasoline engine control module rectifies the situation and is available via Xentry DVD update version 01/2013.

Please do not replace any components of the gasoline engine or the fuel system correlated to this issue. The complaint is software related; replacing parts does not rectify the situation.
