Service Transmission Light Flashing and/or Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) On and DTC P0705 Set

Models:

2014-2015 Cadillac CTS Sedan (VIN A)
Equipped with Aisin 8 Speed Automatic Transmission (RPO MGG)
Built Prior to February 15, 2015

Attention:

This PI also applies to any of the above models that may be Export vehicles.

Condition/Concern
Some customers may comment on a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on or that the Service Transmission light is flashing. Customers may also comment that
the shifter does not seem to shift correctly into each range. The technician may find DTC P0705 set or in history in the TCM.
Note: Technicians may also find "U" codes set but not consistent on which ones set or which module they set in.

Recommendation/Instructions
Replace the transmission range selection lever with the new part listed in the Parts Information and adjust the shift linkage following the steps below:
1.

Apply the park brake.

2.

Shift the transmission into Neutral.

3.

Raise the vehicle.

4.

Disconnect the transmission range selector cable from the range selector cable lever ball stud.

5.

Remove the transmission range selector cable lever nut.
Warning: Hold the transmission range selector lever while removing or installing the lever retaining nut. Failure to hold the lever can
cause damage to the transmission internal park system components which could allow the vehicle to roll when placed in the park
position.

6.

Remove the transmission range selector cable lever.

7.

Install the new transmission range selector cable lever.

8.

Install the transmission range selector cable lever nut.
Tighten: Tighten the nut to 30 Y (22 lb ft).

9.

Lower the vehicle and place transmission in the Park position.

10. Raise the vehicle.
11. Verify the transmission range select lever and transmission manual shift lever are in the Park position.
12. Depress the adjuster clip inboard, locking the adjuster clip completely.
13. Ensure that the cable adjuster clip is secured with retaining collar covering the adjuster clip.
14. Check the transmission range select lever in all gear selections for proper operation.
15. Clear DTCs.
