Replacing internal rear view mirror

Please note that the aforementioned kit must be installed to update vehicles
manufactured from start of production to Assembly no. 145368 (from VIN no.
221042 to VIN no. 227657) to reflect the configuration of vehicles currently in
production. The original rear view mirror will be replaced with a new mirror that has the
Homelinke feature.
The list of vehicles involved in the update is viewable on the Modis CS site, using the
"Recall and Service Campaign Management" function and entering the campaign
number indicated below.
The part to be installed is:
 Complete Homelink internal rear view mirror

Part no. 70004995

This procedure must be performed using the special tool AV 8841 (095978841),
which permits removal of the internal rear view mirror without damaging the windshield
– Fig. 1.
This tool may be requested directly from Ferrari North America (FNA), who will ship
the tool to you as needed.

Procedure
A

AV 8841

The tool AV 8841 has two teeth (A)
which engage in the slots in the rear view
mirror cover, and a knob (B) for
fastening the tool in place – Fig. 2.

 Disconnect the battery (as described in paragraph F2.01 step 3 of the Workshop
Manual).
 Remove the dome light unit without disconnecting the connector of the unit itself (as
described in paragraph E5.12 step 1 of the Workshop Manual).

 Remove the protective foam and then
disconnect the connector of the rear view
mirror (C) – Fig. 3.

 Engage the teeth (A) of the tool AV 8841
in the last slot on either side of the rear
view mirror cover, as shown in the photo,
and then tighten the knob (B) to fasten
the tool in place – Fig. 4.

 Grip the tool, placing your thumbs in the
holes as shown in the photo – Fig. 5.

 Gripping the tool firmly, pull towards the
bottom edge of the windshield while
keeping the tool against the surface of the
windshield itself, until the internal rear
view mirror (D) is completely detached
from its seat – Fig. 6.
Note: While detaching the internal rear
view mirror (D), take care not to
damage the electrical cable, which is
still connected.

 Disconnect
the
rain-twilight
sensor
connector (E), pass the electrical cable
through the roof front cross member trim
and remove the rear view mirror (D) –
Fig. 7.
Note: Take care not to damage any
components when passing the cable
through the roof front cross
member trim.

 To install the new rear view mirror Part No.
70004995 (D), reconnect the connector
(E) to the rain-twilight sensor and then lift
the roof front cross member trim slightly
and pass the connector towards the
passenger compartment side connector –
Fig. 8.

 Fit the internal rear view mirror (D) in the
relative guide on the windshield and then
press by hand towards the upper windshield
cross member trim panel, keeping against
the windshield, until the mirror snaps into
place – Fig. 9.

 Connect the rear view mirror connector
(C) and then refit the protective foam –
Fig. 10.

 Refit the passenger compartment dome light unit (as described in paragraph E5.12 step
2 of the Workshop Manual).

 Reconnect the battery (as described in paragraph F2.01 step 4 of the Workshop
Manual).
 Check that the newly installed internal rear view mirror functions correctly.

Ordering of Parts
The parts required to carry out the update described in this Bulletin must be ordered by you directly
from our Spare Parts Department in the quantities needed.

- IMPORTANT The replaced parts must be scrapped/disposed of appropriately by you.
