Introduction
Some 2014 – 2016 model year IS vehicles may exhibit a rattle type noise from the rear parking
brake assemblies when driving over bumps. Follow the procedure in this bulletin to address
this condition.

This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or
50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

NOTE
Make sure the No. 1 Wire Adjusting
Nut is completely loose during parking
brake adjustment. This will ensure
there is no gap between the shoe and
anchor inside the parking brake
assembly. If a gap is present, a rattle
type noise may occur.

Repair Procedure A (Continued)
2. Road test the vehicle to confirm the rattle noise is no longer present while driving over bumps.
If the noise is still present, perform Repair procedure B.

1. Remove parking brake shoes and parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly.

2. Clean up parking brake shoes, parking brake shoe lever sub-assembly, and backing plate.
3. Apply Disc Brake Grease to the areas of the
parking brake plate which make contact with
the shoe and anchor block sub-assembly.
