PURPOSE: Inspect the intercooler hoses for proper alignment and installation

The complaint will vary in presentation through diagnostic trouble codes related to air/fuel ratio
imbalance or underboost condition (P0101,P0299).
Inspect the hose clamps for the intake system and ensure they are lined up correctly and all hoses are
located properly. There may be residual manufacturing lubricant that will require cleaning and replacing
of all the affected hoses.
Loosening of the clamp to adjust the hose may be required. Reinstall to the specified torque value as
indicated for each position.
The tools as shown ,will be required to perform this
set of inspections and adjustments.
- Flashlight
- Panel and push-pin tools
- Pick tool
- Standard screw driver
- 8mm socket and ratchet with extensions as needed
- 7mm socket
- T30 torx bit
- Torque wrench (1/4” Drive Flex-Head)
- Hood prop rod
- Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
- Solution of soap and water (1:10) to reassemble hoses
- It is recommended to apply P-80 emulsion
to assist in the assembly of the new hoses. Use a
quantity 2-3 sprays = 0.4 gr)

Overview:
1. Beginning on passenger side.
2. Place hood prop in position
3. Disconnect hood strut from hood hinge location (pull tab out with appropriate tool, and release)
4. Undo the push pins to move shroud forward around charge air pipe
5. Loosen lower clamp at intercooler ((8mm socket) take care to not drop the clamp.
6. Loosen hose clamp at the turbo side
7. Pull hose off the intercooler and turbo side
8. Inspect and clean the aluminum surfaces as indicated, replace rubber hoses if excess lubricant is found
9. Replace hoses and clamps, torque to spec as indicated (P-80 emulsion recommended to assist in the
assembly of the new hoses use a quantity(2-3 sprays = 0.4 gr) of emulsion for assembly)
- On the driver side
10. Prop hood as before
11. Remove hose d-clamp from hose bundle
12. Disconnect MAF sensor
13. Pull off vacuum line
14. Loosen the hose clamp to throttle body (7mm)
15. Loosen clamp form forward section by intercooler
16. Inspect and clean the aluminum surfaces as indicated, replace hoses if excess lubricant is found
17. Replace hoses and clamps, torque to spec as indicated. (P-80 emulsion recommended to assist in the
assembly of the new hoses use a quantity(2-3 sprays = 0.4 gr) of emulsion for assembly)

All clamps should be inspected for proper fitment.
All hose fittings should also be inspected and
cleaned of excess lubricant.
the Aluminum surfaces of the charge air pipe
should be cleaned (with alcohol), all rubber hoses
will be replaced with new parts.
Parts to be replaced are:
• C131114401002 - Cold Charge Air Pipe Assy
• C131114411001 - Throttle Body Adapter Hose
• C131114403002 - Hot Charge Air Pipe
Reposition of some clamps such as (fig. 1c) will be
required.

Some dissassembly for access will be required. Removal of the hood strut will aid in access as well (fig.
2a), use a hood prop to support while this is not attached. The forward shroud on the “hot” or turbo side
of the air charge pipe (fig. 2b) unlock and remove these clips and panel.

Move the panel out of the way after clips are removed (fig. 2c). this will provide access to the lower
clamp, for removal (fig. 2d) and installation and torque wrench (fig. 2e.

For guidance: the hose clamps in red are locations to be inspected for excess lubricant and will require
cleaning (fig. 3. Any clamps found to be misaligned will require images and a TSS case submission,
but to be torqued to values indicated. All clamps should be checked for proper torque.

These clamps are shown correctly installed (fig. 4a and 4b).
However all indicated clamps must be inspected for residue, loosen and inspect.
Residual lubricant can be seen below in (Throttle body side fig. 4c and intercooler pipe fig. 4d). This is
to be cleaned off and reassembled.
Cleaning can be performed on aluminum surfaces using isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol).
Replace rubber hoses.
Reassembly can be made easier with a solution of soapy water (1:10 ratio of soap, such as Dawn, to
water) on the pipe and rubber hose surfaces. P-80 emulsion is recommended. Use a quantity (2-3 sprays
= 0.4gr).

Some clamps will require repositioning. The throttle body adapter hose clamp should be rotated to
provide access for a torque wrench (fig. 5a). Torque to 5.5 +/- 0.5 Nm
The hose clamp that secures the pipe to the intercooler needs to be repositioned to be provide torque
wrench access to properly torque the clamp while the fascia is installed.
To complete this task the alignment tab (if found on the assembly) must be pried open to adjust position
to provide access for a torque wrench (fig.5b).

The hot side (turbo side) charge air pipe will also require clamp rotation (if not already set) as shown,
torque to 8 +/- 0.5Nm (fig. 6a, 6b).
