PROCEDURE
DANGER
Park vehicle safely, apply parking brake, stop engine. In the battery box, set the battery cut-off switch to
the OFF position prior to working on the vehicle.
On the front independent suspension, inspect the bolts highlighted in fig. 2.
Note that you may have to remove the shocks and the sway bar links to perform the replacement.
Support the body on both sides before removing any components.
1)
Verify the bolt head for the marking “OF”. If
present on one of the bolts, replace BOTH
bolts

3) Replace one bolt at a time

Short Bolt M20 X 60 G12.9

4) Run a M20 X 2.5 size tap in the threaded section of the axle. You have to go from the back
side and not the bracket side
5) Clean the bolt thread as well as the support thread using degreaser. Dry with compressed air.
6) Apply 271 Loctite or Permatex 27100 on bolt and threaded hole
7) Torque to 547 FT LBS, Qty: 2 per side
8) Apply undercoating on Bolt heads
9) Reinstall sway bar links. Torque to 165 lbf-ft.
10) Reinstall shocks. Torque to 110 lbf-ft.
11) If no “OF” marking on the bolts, the vehicle is Conform.
PARTS / WASTE DISPOSAL
Return replaced parts to Prevost with A.F.A. for full reimbursement.
