Some field vehicles have been found with EGR hot side inner (3005782C3) and outer

(3005416C3) bellows cracked.

INSPECTION

1. Inspect the EGR hot side inner (3005782C3) and outer (3005416C3) bellow tubes for cracks or exhaust

leaks.
2. Check the integrity of engine & chassis harness in the surrounding area. You will look for

melted: split loom, connectors, and/or wire insulation.

3. Lookup case file history. If complete or low temperature side EGR cooler has been replaced

you will inspect for missing or loose of bolts in the “L” shaped bracket (Reference Figure A).

A. The 2 vertical bolts, (up & down) are OFTEN found to be never re-installed or are left loose

in the field after complete or partial EGR Cooler replacement. These MUST be installed. Your

parts department will find you these vertical bolts through the parts system or local supplier.

2. EGR cooler bracket

3. M8 x 25 heat-resistant bolt (2)
RESOLUTION

If a fracture or exhaust leak is found at the EGR hot side inner (3005782C3) or outer (3005416C3) bellow tube

replace both the outer and inner EGR hot side bellow tubes. The kit number for the EGR hot side inner is

3007671C95 and EGR hot side outer is 3007670C95. Do not use part 3005782C3 for the EGR hot side

inner tube or 3005416C3 EGR hot side outer tube for the replacement. Part number 3005782C3 has been

replaced with 3005782C4 and part number 3005416C3 has been replaced with 3005416C4.

If the engine sensor harness is damaged, replace with part# 3008067C92. If

damage is found on the Chassis harness, repair the harness following

IK0800269. If the O2 sensor connector is damage, replace with Connector

part # 3691136C1,Terminal part # 3573653C1 (X6), and Seal 3573653C1 (X6)
The issue for EGR hot side inner and outer bellows cracking has been addressed by engineering and all

engines built on January 17th, 2012 and later will not be affected by this issue.
The bellows is intended for expansion and contraction and not intended for

ease of EGR valve or cooler replacement. Bending of the Bellows during

repaire can result in premature failure. The tubes must be removed as

outlined in the service manual.
