Title: Navistar Wheel Alignment Policy
Applies To: All Navistar vehicles
DESCRIPTION
All Navistar and IC Bus models with build dates October 1, 2013 and later.
This letter reinforces the position of Navistar regarding non-reimbursement for wheel and axle alignments consistent with
the published Navistar Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual CTS-1100.
Issue:
In an effort to offer the best built, highest quality vehicles available, Navistar has made substantial improvements and
investments to its assembly process.
Navistar has installed state of the art alignment systems operated by certified technicians in all truck assembly plants.
The Josam I-Track system provides Best in Class alignment accuracy by accommodating for all potential variation.






Controlled steel floors
Fully integrated within the assembly process
Certified operators
Robust preventative maintenance plan
Stationary targets

Consistent throughout all truck manufacturing facilities
The equipment accuracy is maintained on the following schedule:




Calibration (every shift)
Master chassis (weekly)
Full system validation using CMM technology (quarterly)

The basic certified readings are recorded and placed on or above the vehicle sun-visor (Figure 1) and will soon be added
to the vehicle line-set (applies to truck assembly plants).

Warranty Policy:
Navistar strongly discourages adjustments to any vehicle, steer axle or drive axle alignment.
1. The precision system used in Navistar truck assembly plants has been proven to be more accurate than “typical”
alignment systems used in the field. When alignment is required reference the proper inspection and diagnostic
procedures listed on the Navistar Service Portal.
a.Bus alignment, through utilization of preset assemblies, is also strongly discouraged after production. (refer to IC
Bus LLC Warranty Procedures and Policies S00210)
2. Attempts to adjust steer axle or rear wheel alignment may degrade vehicle performance and lead to premature wear
of suspension components and/or tires.
3. Rear axle or steer axle alignment and adjustments are not reimbursable under Navistar warranty. Reference the
CTS-1100 for further warranty information.
4. Prior to making any change to the factory alignment, complete the following tire wear form and submit the form with
a case file for consideration of the proposed alignment adjustments.
