Is there large amounts or oil found in the CAC
inlet or outlet?

Replace Turbo Center Section (Refer
to TSI 13-12-05R1 for procedure).
• Clean CAC (Refer to TSI-13-12-17R1)
• Verify that oil has not reached the
DOC. If it has the DOC and DPF need
to be removed to drain. (Refer to Open
TSI's and Service Manual for
procedure). iApprove will need to be
started if damage has occurred.

Note: Verify the engine will bar over by
hand before starting when repairs are
complete.
No: Proceed to Step 2

Verify complete injector replacement was
done

Yes: Proceed to Step 3.

Were all the injector replaced at the time of the
turbo failure?
No: Replace the injectors that were not
addressed at the time of the failure and retest
for 731 fault codes

Condition of running engine.

Yes: Proceed to Step 4

Does the engine run smooth at idle?

No: Diagnose Engine rough running engine

Note: If the engine will not stay running
long enough to be able to tell the state.
Depress the clutch pedal in order to
disable the monitor.
Vehicle test drive at low idle creep.

Yes: Proceed to Step 5.

• In the event that Vehicle speed does
not register when the vehicle is motion,
the monitor for the 731 fault codes will
see the vehicle in a parked state. This
will cause the fault to set while the
vehicle is in motion.
• For a manual transmission select the
lowest gear in the transmission, release
the parking brake and slowly let the
clutch out. Allowing only engine speed
at idle to drive the truck (600 ­ 650
RPM).
For Automatic transmissions put the
gear selector into manual
mode and lock it into the lowest gear
available. Use the accelerator pedal to
engage the transmission and let off
Allowing only engine speed at idle to

• Monitor the vehicle speed using an
Engine Service Tool (EST).

No: Troubleshoot the VSS issue.
Note: Installation depth of VSS is critical
for VSS reporting to the ECM.

Is vehicle speed registering any speed? (ex.
3.5 k/hr. or 5 MPH in low on a 10 speed)

while driving down the road?
No: Proceed to Step 7

Does the unit run a Split Shaft (Axillary case
that the main drive shaft goes though ex.
Transfer Case)
Note: The will only fault will activate while
the master PTO switch is on only.

Yes: Proceed to Step 7

No: Verify that PID 80112 Transfer Case
Switch Signal Source is set to Drive Line
Engaged. Not Split Shaft Engaged. Verify
Fault Code does not set after the PID
change.
Note: Some applications will require
wiring changes per the body builder.
Contact body builder for instructions.

Does the fault code come active during a
service bay test?
(ex. Air Management Test, OBFCT)

Yes: VerifyAFC 11917was completed.

part of the AFC please submit a case

¼ inch drill bit
Digital caliper or something equivalent
Marker with the ability to mark a fine line
Directions
Using the clear plastic drill a hole a ¼ inch hole centered at one end
Thread the M6 bolt though the hole
Measure 1.300 inches from the edge of the bolt and mark a line on the plastic
Holding the tool with the bolt closest to you mark a line down the right side edge this will be referenced below

Procedure for using the tool

Use 7mm socket with ratchet to remove the two screws from flywheel housing cover.
Remove plastic cover carefully to not damage the plastic tabs.
Rotate flywheel so timing mark is visible in window of flywheel housing.
Place gauge template with black-marked edge towards the ring gear and pin in nearest hole to timing mark (closest one
to the botom next to the timing hole).
Verify that the timing mark is aligned with the mark on the tool.

there was no turbo failure it is telling me to replace injectors
