DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this iKnow is to address fault code SPN 629 FMI 8 for all 2010 emissions HD OBD compliant medium duty I6 Engines. The functionality
of this code was turned on starting with calibration ECR0 and later. If you have a unit with an active SPN 629 FMI 8 and the ECM was recently updated
and/or the unit was built after 12/5/2013, please complete the following checks below.

A drive cycle as referred to in this case needs to include 2 key cycles where the the engine is started up and ran, and then shutdown.
DIAGNOSTIC STEP(s)
1. Using the appropriate tool pull a health report and check for active code SPN 629 FMI 8. If code is active continue to step 2.
2. If the code became active after updating the ECM, clear the code and complete 2 drive cycles and check to see if code has returned active. If code
is not longer active then no further repair is needed. If code returns then continue with step 3.
3. If code will not clear then check to see if 5 amp ECM Timer fuse and holder for open fuse and/or corrosion. The fuse is located under the hood on
the drivers side of the engine compartment tucked under the air cleaner and next to the cab mount. See Figure #1 for installation drawings, and
Figure #2 for fuse location on a truck. On RE Bus it is fuse F21 located in the PDM in the engine compartment.
There are two different installations currently in use, however the location is similar.

REPAIR STEP(s)
1. If corrosion is found replace fuse and fuse holder, with service parts listed in above table.
2. Check to make sure fuse is supplied battery power, if no battery power is present refer to Figure #3 for circuit digram and follow standard
