DESCRIPTION
Certain LoneStar®, ProStar®, and TranStar® vehicles with hydraulic clutch linkage and heavy-duty Solo
self-adjusting clutch built between 01 March 2013 and 04 February 2014 will need to have the clutch switch
replaced. In certain models, the clutch master cylinder must be replaced.
TOOLS INFORMATION
NOTE: Reverse pressure bleeding is a recommended procedure to reliably remove air from the
hydraulic system. Reverse pressure bleeding equipment type recommended for pressure bleeding of
hydraulic clutch actuation system is: Essential tool ZTSE6087NAV (brake / clutch bleeder or similar
type of system). Pressure bleeding procedure is an optional bleeding procedure for use if reverse
pressure bleeding procedure cannot be performed. Pressure bleeding equipment type recommended
for pressure bleeding of hydraulic clutch actuation systems: pressurized fill and bleed tools.
PARTS INFORMATION
NOTE: All units will require inspection and / or replacement of the clutch switch. Units built 04 November
2013 through 4 February 2014 at Escobedo (N in VIN 11th digit) will also require clutch master cylinder
replacement. Units built 20 December 2013 through 4 February 2014 at Springfield (H in VIN 11th digit)
will also require clutch master cylinder replacement.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
WARNING: To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, park vehicle on hard
flat surface, turn the engine off, set the parking brake, and install wheel chocks to prevent the
vehicle from moving in both directions.
WARNING: To prevent property damage, personal injury, and / or death, if the vehicle must
be raised, do not work under the vehicle supported only by jacks. Jacks can slip or fall over.
WARNING: To prevent personal injury and / or death, always wear safe eye protection when
performing vehicle maintenance.
1. Bring vehicle into shop and park on flat surface.
2. Shift transmission to Park or Neutral, set parking brake, and install wheel chocks.
3. Remove 11 screws, one M8 x 45 mm bolt, one M6 x 35 mm bolt, and two driver-side modesty panels
from vehicle.

4. Inspect clutch switch (Figure 1, Item 1) color.
a. If clutch switch (Figure 1, Item 1) is black, install new clutch switch.

b. If clutch switch (Figure 1, Item 1) is not black, clutch switch does not need to be replaced.
5. Replace master cylinder, if vehicle was built between 04 November 2013 and 04 February 2014 at
Escobedo, or between 20 December 2013 and 04 February 2014 at Springfield. Refer to Service Manual
Section, Hydraulic Clutch Service Manual, S11018.
6. Verify clutch switch operation by depressing clutch pedal to crank vehicle. Starter should engage in a
range from a little before to just after clutch brake contact, which is indicated by pedal coming to a stop with
same amount of effort being applied to clutch release pedal as was used to stroke clutch release pedal.
7. Install two modesty panels onto vehicle with one M6 x 35 mm bolt, one M8 x 45 mm bolt, and 11 screws.
8. Remove wheel chocks.

ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE
Expense is to be charged to Warranty. Claims are to be submitted in the normal manner, making reference to
Authorized Field Change Number 14906.
It is important that the coding be completed properly to assist in processing the warranty claim. Complete
instructions will be found in the Warranty Policy Manual, Section 7.1.8.
As with all claim submissions, items acquired locally must be submitted in the “Other Charges” tab. The cost
of any bulk items (such as a bag of cable tie straps, roll of wire, barrel of oil, or tube of silicone) should be
prorated for the cost of the individual pieces / amount used during each repair.
To ensure this important improvement is made in a timely manner, all claims for 14906 activity must be
submitted by 09 October 2015 or within the normal warranty period for the vehicle, if after 09 October 2015.
