DESCRIPTION

The front brake hose may be routed so the hose can come in contact with the wheel, and can damage the hose (See Figure

#1). This document will guide the user through inspection, possible replacement, and insuring proper clipping is in place on the

front hydraulic brake hose.

There are two hose part numbers that were used on some of these chassis. The part number ending in C2 does not make

contact with the rim or tire, and does not require any rework. The brake hose ending in C3 however, is slightly longer and can

contact the wheel if not clipped properly.

1. Park vehicle on a flat surface.

2. Shift transmission to Park or Neutral, and set the parking brake.

3. Turn vehicle ignition to key OFF position.

4. Install wheel chocks.

5. Unlatch and open hood.

6. Inspect both front axle hydraulic brake hoses for clearance to the rim / tire (Figure #1).

7. If the brake hose HAS clearance to the rim / tire, no further action is needed. Proceed to step 13.

8. If the hose was rubbing the rim / tire but is NOT damaged, route and clip the hose as shown in Figure #3 to provide adequate

clearance. Note that the brake hose is clipped below the ABS harness. Proceed to step 12.

9. If the brake hose was rubbing and has visible damage, please continue on through the steps below to replace the brake

hose.

10. Replace the hose with the 3870758C2 or C4, secure the hose as shown in Figure #2 with the brake hose clipped above the

ABS harness.
INSTALLATION IDENTIFICATION:

11. If brake hose replacement was necessary, you must follow the brake bleeding procedure outlined in the Service Manual.

12. Make sure the ABS harness and brake hose do not touch. If they do, adjust the P clamps to prevent them from contacting.

13. Close and latch the hood.

14. Remove wheel chocks.
