CONDITION SUMMARY:

SITUATION:
An issue has been identified on certain vehicles within the listed Affected Vehicle Range
where the linkages between the climate control system fresh air inlet door and servo motor
may become detached, leading to a failure of the inlet door required for automatic
temperature control.
ACTION:
Retailers are required to HOLD affected new vehicles that are within your control and refrain
from releasing the vehicles for new vehicle sale pending completion of the Diagnostic
Procedure, and if necessary Workshop Procedure, detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Unsold
vehicles should have this performed as part of the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) process but
must have it completed prior to vehicle handover to the customer.
This program does not apply to any vehicle already registered and in use, either with the
retailer or customer. Any vehicle already in use may continue to be driven and any repair
instructions deemed necessary will be communicated through a separate Field Action or
Technical Bulletin.

NOTE:
Check DDW to make sure that a vehicle is affected by this program prior to undertaking
any rework action.
At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, make sure that all outstanding Recall
and Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts are available and adequate
workshop time is allocated for repairs to be completed at one visit.
Warranty claims must be submitted quoting the Program Code and the relevant Option Code;
this will result in payment of the stated time. The SRO and parts information is included for
information only. The Option Code(s) that allows for the drive in/drive out allowance may only
be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be
undertaken.
Repair procedures are under constant review and therefore times / prices are subject to
change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only. Refer to TOPIx to obtain the
latest repair time.
This program is valid for a limited time only. Warranty claims with a repair date prior to the 21
December 2018 closure date must be submitted for payment within 30 calendar days of
completion of the repair.

◾ A Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply must be connected
to the vehicle battery during diagnosis / module programming.
◾ All ignition ON/OFF requests must be carried out; failure to perform these steps may
cause damage to control modules in the vehicle.

Open the glovebox to the service position.

Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved Midtronics battery power supply to the
vehicle battery.

NOTE:
The Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic tool must be loaded with
PATHFINDER version 124 (or later).
Connect the Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic tool to the vehicle and begin a
new session.

NOTE:
The Jaguar Land Rover-approved diagnostic tool will read the correct Vehicle
Identification Number (VIN) for the current vehicle and automatically take the
vehicle out of Transit mode if required.
Follow the on-screen prompts.

Select ECU Diagnostics.

Select HVAC Control Module [HVAC].

NOTE:
The following application will include on-screen instructions to inspect and if
necessary repair the recirculation blend door actuator lever arm prior to
updating the software. Make sure that these steps are followed carefully.
Select Update ECU.

When the diagnostic tool activates recirculation mode, inspect the operation of the
recirculation blend door. Correct operation should be smooth and controlled and may
be in steps as it reaches the closed position.
If the recirculation blend door does not operate correctly, go to the
Workshop Procedure below.
If the recirculation blend door operates correctly, close the glovebox and
go to Step 9.

Follow all on-screen instructions until the software update application completes
successfully.

When all tasks are complete, go to the next Step.

Exit the current session.

If required, reset the vehicle to Transit mode.

Select the Exit icon.

Disconnect the diagnostic tool and battery power supply from the vehicle.

Detach the front right door aperture seal and position to the side.

Remove the right A-pillar lower trim panel.
Torque: 3.5 Nm

Remove the instrument panel right trim.

Disconnect the 5 electrical connectors from the Body Control Module/Gateway
Module (BCM/GWM) assembly.

Remove the 2 retaining nuts.

Lower the Body BCM/GWM assembly.
Torque: 3.5 Nm

Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors from the BCM/GWM assembly.

Remove the BCM/GWM assembly.



Remove the fuse box retaining screws.

Position the fuse box to the side.

Torque: 10 Nm

Remove the BCM/GWM upper mounting bracket.
Torque: 10 Nm

CAUTION:
There is sufficient movement in the recirculation blend door actuator lever arm
to allow installation into the recirculation door. However, do not force the
component into position.

Install the recirculation blend door actuator lever arm into the recirculation door.

For installation, reverse Steps 1-11.

Select Update ECU.
