Leveling rod interference

Issue:
Some XT and XT Pro units (with extended life #80 leveling chain) could experience fiberglass
insert bolt interference with a leveling rod due to leveling rod moving vertically during road
travel. The leveling system must be inspected for wear or damage on the leveling rod. Wear
on the leveling rod must be evaluated as instructed in the maintenance manual. Excessive
wear on a leveling rod may reduce the service life of the leveling rod.

Recommended action of Owner:
1. Inspect the leveling rods in the lower boom in the area shown below.

2. If contact is evident between the leveling rod and fiberglass insert bolt, turn bolt around so
the head of the bolt is on the inside of the boom. Torque as stated in the manual.
3. If wear exceeds allowable as stated in the maintenance manual, order the appropriate
leveling rod part number identified in the parts section of your manual for your units.
4. Terex Utilities recommends that you perform this action within 90 days of receipt of this
bulletin or as stated in the Frequent and Periodic inspection interval shown in the manuals.
5. Always follow all inspection and maintenance requirements as specified in the manuals,
including leveling system tension.

What Terex will do:
Terex will provide a replacement leveling rod only for units with excessive wear, as described
in the maintenance manual, due to leveling rod interference with fiberglass insert bolt. This
warranty coverage will cover units that have been in service for 5 years or less and were
manufactured before January 1, 2018.
Dealers and Installers: This bulletin is posted on the TEREX Utilities website. If an owner
contacts you about this bulletin; contact TEREX Utilities, at 1-844-837-3948, for further
instructions.
Important: Some of the affected units may be in rental fleets. Terex requires you to complete
the bulletin on these units before renting, and to inform the renters of affected units within 10
days of receipt of this bulletin.
Terex and local industry standards (e.g. ANSI, CSA) requires that the purchaser of a Terex
unit report to Terex the model and serial number of each machine and their contact
information within 60 days of the sale. Terex requests the seller also provide the name,
address, and telephone number of the new owner, Use the Owner Update Form in the manual
to update the owner status of any of your machines.

Terex, OSHA and local industry standards require that the manufacturer’s bulletins be
completed. It is important for everyone to communicate this important information to all
