Introduction

Some 2015 – 2016 model year NX 200t and NX 300h vehicles equipped with blind spot monitor
may exhibit a blind spot monitor warning message with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C1AB2
(Short to Ground in Outer Mirror Indicator [Master]) or C1AB3 (Short to Ground in Outer Mirror
Indicator [Slave]) present. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

shown below.

Repair Procedure

1. Using Techstream, check for the following stored DTCs:
C1AB2 – Short to Ground in Outer Mirror Indicator (Master)
C1AB3 – Short to Ground in Outer Mirror Indicator (Slave)
Is either DTC present?
 YES — Continue to step 2.


NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
NOTE
If blind spot monitor DTCs C1AC1 (Master Module Horizontal Axis Misalignment) or
C1AC2 (Slave Module Horizontal Axis Misalignment) are present, they MUST be corrected BEFORE
proceeding with this Service Bulletin.

2. Replace the blind spot monitor sensor
indicated by the DTC.
A. Remove the blind spot monitor sensor.

B. Install the NEW blind spot monitor sensor.

3. Perform the Blind Spot Monitor Beam Axis Inspection.

The Blind Spot Monitor Beam Axis Inspection may have been included as part of sensor installation
and only needs to be performed once.

4. Perform the Blind Spot Monitor Beam Axis Confirmation.

5. Clear the DTCs using Techstream.
6. Verify proper operation of the blind spot monitor system.
