Summary
This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that the engine may run hot with the snow plow installed. Do not exceed 64 kilometers per hour / 40 miles per hour with a snow plow mounted to the vehicle even if equipped with VYU. The vehicle could overheat and be damaged.

Condition / Concern
Vehicle concern of running hot with a snowplow installed.
Customer inquiring about installing a snow plow.
Recommendations / Instructions
The only Light duty vehicle built with the snowplow prep package is a regular cab pickup with RPO VYU.

Caution: Do not exceed 64 km/h (40 mph) with a snow plow mounted to the vehicle even if equipped with VYU. The vehicle could
overheat and be damaged
Caution: If the vehicle does not have the snow plow prep package, adding a plow can damage the vehicle, and the repairs would not
be covered by warranty. Unless the vehicle was built to carry a snow plow, do not add one to the vehicle. If the vehicle has the snow
plow prep package, called RPO VYU, then the payload the vehicle can carry will be reduced when a snow plow is installed. The vehicle
can be damaged if either the front or rear axle ratings or the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) are exceeded.
It is not recommended to add a snowplow to any vehicle without RPO VYU
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved
without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
