Chassis Equipped With An AMT-F (I-Shift, mDrive) - Idle Drive Function Activates
When Vehicle Is Reversing/Backing Up At Low Speed; Information And Repair - Build
Date Beginning Of Production 2017 To February 2018

Cause

When backing into loading docks or other backing procedures units equipped with an
AMT-F may enter idle driving mode unexpectedly with no indication to the driver.
Contact with a loading dock or similar condition with the transmission in Idle Driving
Mode may cause excessive stress to be placed on the driveline which can result in
damage to equipment.

Solution

Overview
A new feature has been developed for the AMT-F gearboxes that allows the idle drive
function to be turned off in reverse. This feature is available for US17 emissions
(2018MY chassis) that have AMT-F gearboxes. Initial setting for Idle Drive in reverse is
"ON".

Repair
If the chassis falls into the applicable build date range:
1. Update the Transmission Electronic Control Unit ( TECU ) software.
2. Go into Parameter Programming. Locate parameter P1Q9C.
- Set P1Q9C to "OFF".
- Note: P1Q9C will only be present if the TECU has been properly
programmed first.
