TC10® Models Transmission Fluid and Filter Change Procedure

WARNING: To help avoid injury or property damage caused by sudden and unexpected equipment
movement, do not perform maintenance or service procedures until:
• The transmission is in N (Neutral).
• The parking brake and service brakes are set and properly engaged.
• Chock the wheels and take all other steps necessary to keep the equipment from moving.

WARNING: Avoid contact with hot fluid or the sump when draining transmission fluid. Direct contact with
hot fluid or the hot sump may result in bodily injury.

Drain Fluid (refer to Figure 1):
1. To assure proper drainage, fluid change procedures should be performed when the transmission is at
operating temperature: 71-93°C (160-200°F).
2. Remove the drain plug (4) and drain plug seal (3) from the oil pan and allow the fluid to drain into a suitable
container. Discard the drain plug seal.
3. Examine the drained fluid for evidence of dirt, debris, water, engine coolant or any other foreign material.
Discard the transmission fluid.
4. After the fluid has been drained, install the drain plug (4) and a new drain plug seal (3). Tighten the drain
plug to 30-40 N∙m (22-30 lb ft).

Standard Fluid/Filter Change Procedure (refer to Figure 1):
1. Remove the oil filter (1) by rotating it in a counterclockwise direction. Discard the oil filter.
NOTE: Verify that the filter gasket remained with the filter upon removal and did not stick to the cooler
return filter head.
2. Clean any debris from inside the filter head (2) and clean the mating surface.
3. Lubricate the gasket on the new oil filter (1) by applying a film of oil.
4. Install the new oil filter (1) by rotating it in the clockwise direction until the filter contacts the mating surface of
the filter head (2). Once seated, rotate the filter an additional 270° (¾ turn).
5. Refill the transmission to the proper level with a TES 295 approved fluid.

Refill Transmission:
Refer to Table 1 for refill quantities. The amount of fluid is less than the amount used for the initial fill. Fluid
remains in the external circuits and transmission cavities after draining the transmission. After the transmission has
been refilled, verify fluid level.
